Description
Visitors to this ironmongers will feel like they're straddling two eras in this unique and interactive museum, where the forge of yesteryear mingles with that of the present day.
Reconstruction of a fabrication workshop, stages in the production of metalwork items, slide show, display of historic tools and contemporary items. Life in days gone by traces the lives of the men who worked on the land during summer, and during the winter became blacksmiths, working at the anvil, with the furnace in the forge kept burning bright by the magic of the bellows and the treadmill. Life today shows modern techniques of metalworking and pressing used to make items that are a part of everyday life, designed and produced by craftsmen, dedicated men and women eager to demonstrate and share with others this rich heritage.
