The Biennale celebrates Sainté’s creativity
Do we still need to introduce it?
Every two years, Saint-Étienne hosts the Biennale Internationale Design.
An unmissable event among unmissable events, it’s virtually an obligation to be there – you will cancel, postpone, drop anything, but you will be there. A global reference in the world of design and creativity, the Biennale is Saint-Étienne as you have never seen it before.
This year, the Biennial is taking an exciting turn with the theme ‘Resource(s), foreshadowing tomorrow’, which will run from 22 May to 6 July 2025. A unique moment when design becomes a resource, a means of reflecting on and imagining the future. Armenia, the guest of honour, will bring a fresh perspective on global creativity.
Nine designers have been invited as curators, each choosing a section to express their vision of the subject.
The nine sections – Déjà-là, Terres promises, Le devenir industriel, Minimum / Maximum, En mode hybride, Créer avec l’AI, Le design des communs, Design climatique, Les autres vivants – form chapters that explore and question the actions that design can initiate in the face of current challenges, in particular the re-evaluation of production and consumption methods in a world faced with a growing ecological debt.
