Because design objects are to Saint-Étienne what the Eiffel Tower is to Paris, there's no way you can leave the Cité without stopping off in the souvenir shop with its shelves full of creative and often recreational curiosities designed by young local designers. No commercial excess here and no certainly no trace of any trinkets made in Thailand. Only design and nothing but genuine "AOC" design - so authentic it's virtually organic. 140 sqm of floor space adjoining the exhibition. Also a good selection of specialist books about design.
