Ferme de Monnichard
Description
Welcome to Ferme de Monnichard, a dairy farm where you can discover all about milk production, from the pasture to the glass and even try your hand at milking a cow! Not to mention meeting our animals! Booking required.
We offer fun, education visits focused on milk production, the farmer's life and work, the chance to meet our 75 cows and their calves. You will be able to feed the calves, see how they suck your fingers. You will also find out how we feed our cows and how 85% of their feed is produced on the farm. Follow the route of a drop of milk through to the final dairy product, you'll see how the cows are milked, and everyone will be able to have a go at milking by hand. Activities include turning milk into soft white cheese and butter, followed by tasting.
Meet our other animals: rabbits, pigs, poultry, hens, ewes, Galiette our goat, Pikachy the donkey - they'll tell you their story and they love being petted and fed.
You will also find out about biodiversity in the family vegetable plot, be able to have a go at planting and find out who the gardener's friends and enemies are.
Discover the countryside with guided walks.
All of this in our old farm buildings where you will be able to see a dovecote, a bread oven, an 18th century stone sink, as well as the modern buildings, the latest one dating from 2012.
Our visits are always with a guide and their length can vary according to the subjects covered during the visit. Booking required.
